AMAG (Advanced Measurement & Analysis Group Inc.) was founded in 1993 and specializes in providing accurate non-intrusive flow and temperature measurements in demanding applications and environments for the power industry worldwide. Using AMAG’s products and services, utilities are able to realize significant improvements in safety performance, maintenance and operational costs.

The Challenge

AMAG scheduled a move to a new office space, and the leadership team saw this as an opportunity to set up additional amenities for its employees: a new boardroom, a new office, and a spacious cubicle area. Having already been AMAG’s IT services provider, MBC was asked to devise a solution to migrate all company’s IT assets while considering the unique IT setup employed during the pandemic: the migration had to happen seamlessly, without interrupting the workflows of neither the office nor the remote workers.

HIghlights

  • Complete location of the IT infrastructure.
  • Close collaboration with the movers, electricians, building management and the ISP.
  • IT infrastructure and architecture optimization to accelerate the IT roadmap.
  • Stronger sense of IT support for the AMAG employees beyond the transactional interactions
  • Remote access upgrade.

The Solution

Having successfully worked on many office-move projects in the past, the MBC Account Services team collaborated with the AMAG team to understand the layout of the new office, identify the requirements for the IT infrastructure, and plan the power and data cabling and wireless connectivity for each workstation and endpoint. Once the requirements were agreed upon, MBC analyzed the existing IT assets to determine their utility, consolidating infrastructure technology where possible and deciding which assets are unnecessary and should not be brought over to the new office. Upon building the design and planning the move the MBC team reached out to the best available local Internet Service Provider (ISP) to procure the service in advance to ensure Internet connectivity.

On the day of the relocation, the MBC team packed up, moved and re-deployed the server room equipment at the new location, procured and installed the new wireless switches, and set up the new remote access solution to the office using SSTP VPN, which critical given the working organization presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. MBC delivered a delightful experience, and our client was extremely satisfied.

MBC really prioritizes customer satisfaction, the technicians worked very hard to make sure we were ready for our launch date.
